With the start of the college football season less than two months away, it is never too early to look ahead at all the great historically black college classic match ups.
Here are four notable games to keep an eye on in 2012.
Port City Classic — Grambling State v. Alcorn State - Sept. 1
The defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions start their title defense against an Alcorn State outfit under first-year head coach Jay Hopson.
SWAC/MEAC Challenge — Bethune Cookman v. Alabama State – Sept. 2
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has won 5 of the last 7 meetings in the conference challenge, including the Wildcats 63-17 romp over Prairie View a season ago.
Circle City Classic – South Carolina State v. North Carolina Central – Oct. 6
Conference foes square off in an October match up that could determine who represents the MEAC in the FCS postseason.
Turkey Day Classic Alabama State v. Tuskegee - Nov. 22
The 89th installment the oldest classic in all of HBCU football will take place on the campus of Alabama State at new Hornet Stadium after being played at the Crampton Bowl for many years.
